Using Blank DVDs For Something Other Than Music And Movies

Updated on February 11, 2015

Up-cycle Blank DVDs

I have many DVDs. Most of them are full of movies. The blank ones sit in their cases. Every now and then, I use them for to put movies on or music. Most of them, stay in the case: never used. But, it does not have to be this way.

They can be used for a number of things. You can make everything from clock to cars with your DVDs.

If you want to do something very scary make a Hellraiser movie props out of them. These are just props. Throwing DVDs will not make you more popular with horror fans.

1. Make a game with them.

There are several games that can be played with the DVDs. You can make a new game out of them. The easiest way to do this is to make a travel edition of your favorite game.

Take out your favorite board game. Put together the DVDs then use marker to copy the game. All the pieces of the game can be now put into a smaller bags.

Doing this will save you space if the board is too long and is getting in the way.

You can create a game by using the DVD as spaces. Use dice to get to the end of all the DVDs, first.

2. Puzzle

Draw a complete picture on a piece of paper. Make sections out of paper. Each section will be a drawn on a single DVD.

When you are done drawing on each DVD, you can put them all together. You can mix them up. Put them back together.

It would be best to put them away for a week. Then, try to put the puzzle together, again.

Keep the drawing as key to your puzzle.

3. Trace Them

Do you like circles? Do you like making circles?

DVDs can be used to trace around. You can make the perfect circle for your project. Or, you can make a circle tracing project with you DVDs.

Circles can be put in any painting or drawing.

More Things To Do With DVDs

4. Hovercraft - I have seen this one many times. You will need: a balloon, the top of the dish soap bottle, rubber band and a DVD. Air pushes the DVD across the table.

5. Balloon powered car - The car moves as the air lets out of the balloon.

This one does not last very long.

The air movies the car. This one does not lift up off of the ground.

6. Clock

Make sure you have the numbers on your clock before you add it to your clock.
